"The Bible Holds
the Baby"
When the Bible is laid
open, it resembles the manger that cradled the Christ child
Jesus nestles neatly between the Old and New Testaments because he is
what connects them.
He is the Savior God
promised in the Old who wins us eternal life in the New.
Six
costumed Bible figures (ancestors of
Jesus) relate their parts in the story of our
salvation and pose a
question to the listeners. Each monolog is 2-1/2 to 3 minutes. Ideally,
the monologs
should be memorized and spoken naturally rather than read or recited.
But if
you feel it is more appropriate for your situation, the monologs can
also be read
expressively by just two people (female, male) in contemporary dress.
- Eve- the mother of
all, and partner in sin that caused the need for a Savior. (See sample below ToC)
- Noah- chosen
to preserve the promised seed through the Flood.
- Abraham- father of
the Israel
nation, from whom the seed would come
- Ruth- a gentile
ancestor of Jesus
- David- the king
whose line would produce the seed
- Mary- Jesus' mother,
who is also his child
Besides the six Bible figures, there are also sections for Readers
and Scripture recitations for classes.
