1.
Where are the old hard copy songbooks?
Long gone. Both publishing and mailing costs have greatly increased.
I hope the eSongbooks (and eSongs) will allow me to keep pricing the same as long as I have this website.
2. Why did you break up the big books: "Sacred Songs," "More Sacred Songs," and "Three in One" ?
They were too large to send electronically. "Sacred Songs" had been a variety book, so it was divided according to themes- at least generally. "Three in One" and "More Sacred Songs," were made up of other books to begin with, so they went back to the originals.)
3. I want to use one of your songs but I really don't want to buy the whole book. Is that possible?
Yes. Now you can order one or more eSongs from any eSongkook.
See To Order for details.
4. Can I burn my own CDs of your music?
Yes. The "Listen..."
are WAV files
that have been converted to MP3 in order to save storage space on the
website. Unless you have a special MP3 playing device, download and burn them as you
would regular audio files. The nice thing about making your own
CDs is that you can choose songs from any of the books for your
personal "mix." (See Q/A 14 and 15 for info on Midi files/floppy disks.)
5. How do I get your songs onto my computer for burning?
This is what I've been told: when you have a "Listen..." song on your media player:
a. Click
"Save As" from your media player's pull-down File
menu. Save the
song as you would any
other file (select or make a folder, type
in a file name,
etc.) or create a Playlist.
b. Use your media player's directions for burning, or
use other software (i.e. Nero), Or use a friend!
6. Do you have vocal recordings so I can hear what your music sounds like when it's sung?
Sorry, no. But I would consider posting vocal recordings from CDs others have made.
7. How do I order eSongbooks/eSongs from you?
Click "To Order" (below) and send me an email with the necessary
ordering info requested there. I will confirm your order by return
email and give you my postal mailing address. As aoon as I receive your
payment, I'll email the music (PDF file) to you.
8. I'd like to see the merchandise before purchasing.
You can see what my music looks like by viewing or downloading the Sample, "Three Wedding Solos." The
other eSongbooks are set up similarly. That, plus being able to
read & listen to all the songs on this website should give you a good
pre-purchase idea.
9. Can I pay by credit card and get the eSongbooks the same day?
I am usually able to email confirmation and give you my postal address the same day you order.
It should only take a couple of days for your check to arrive, so if you mail it soon after confirmation, that's still pretty fast!
10. Is copy permission still in effect for your old books?
Yes. For a clearer understanding of what this means, read Reprint Permission.
11.
We are having a special service with another church and want to have
the entire assembly sing one of your songs. Can we print 400
copies of it?
If your church- or a current member-
bought the book, you can print as many song copies as you need. But
the other participating congregations don't have copy permission if
they take them home.
12. I've bought
several of your songbooks in the past. I'm moving to another state and will take
them with me. What happens to the old copies I made?
You may take them with you or leave
them with your old congregation. They can still use these copies but they do not have permission to make more.
13. What prevents a person from making copies without permission?
Hopefully, a good conscience will prevail! Some people aren't aware that they need to get permission if they didn't purchase the music; some people don't know how to go about getting permission. At the bottom
of each song's first page is a reminder, along with my email
address.
14. Why are there two listening choices?
Dial-up service takes longer to load MP3
files (Listen...).
If you just want an instant play, use the Quick Midi version instead.
Midi's load fast but the sound isn't as good and you can't make CDs
from them.
HOWEVER, you can save them to floppy disks. In our church
we have a digital piano with a Midi drive (floppy disk) and frequently
use it for accompaniment. We also have a Midi box that is easy to
transport to other rooms for rehearsal. Use the MP3 (Listen...) audio if
you have faster uploading capability or want to burn a CD.
15. Are the Midi files from the website complete and able
to be used for performance?
Yes, Midi files and MP3 are complete and can be used for performance. (exception: those few songs
with multiple optional verses.) All midi's can be downloaded and put on
a floppy disk for use in a midi box, the "A" disk drive of a computer, or a digital
keyboard. When played through a keyboard or box, the sound is much better than what you hear on your computer.
